This entry monument needed a makeover when the City of Spokane took over the management of a waste facility.  They needed to be able to install lettering for the new name and logo, but the monument was poured concrete with raised concrete lettering.  The most economical solution was to create a new sign face and mount it to the front of the entry sign.  “The biggest challenge was trying to figure out how to attach a new material to the existing sign,” Signs for Success production manager Denise Gillit said.  To do this, Signs for Success installers mounted a 2×4 treated frame to the concrete face, then mounted the new sign panel to the wood frame.  “This covered the raised concrete lettering and logos very well and looks great,” Signs for Success designer Vanessa Bogensberger said of the entry sign makeover.

The sign panel is Aluminum composite (ACM), also known as Dibond, Signabond, or Epanel.  It is ideal for long term outdoor signs as it is not prone to warping in high heat or moisture like many other materials.  ACM is comprised of two thin aluminum sheets with a solid polyethylene plastic core.  We can print directly to ACM, or we can apply lettering to the surface.  Using cut vinyl lettering allows the sign face to be reused when it is time for another update.  Removing vinyl is a fairly easy process, as is installing new vinyl.  This new monument sign has cut vinyl lettering and logos.

This backdrop display was designed by BHW1 for Whitworth University’s Special Education.  It covers all the basics: easy storage, simple set up and take-down, and custom graphics on a large scale to draw the eye.  We printed the graphics on PosPro film with a 10mil polycarbonate (Lexan) overlaminate.  The construction makes it possible to roll the display up for easy transport, and the “flat” memory means when you arrive at your destination, the poster will roll out flat and display without any curled edges.  Finally, Velcro tabs added to the back of the display make set-up and take-down easy.

“MDI gave us the graphics and initial layout.  I had to modify it to fit the actual truck, according to specific measurements and unique features of the truck,” Signs for Success designer Will Oakley explained.  “Since the truck was already black, we saved him some money by creating a design that avoided wrapping the roof and the back bumper.”

Our designers are adept at creating what we call partial coverage vehicle wraps by fading graphics to the vehicle’s paint color.  This maximizes the impact of graphics, and gives the same impression as a full vehicle wrap at a fraction of the cost.  The Lexar Homes design incorporates green, blue and black graphics.  The graphics fade to black whenever the wrap reaches a part of the truck that isn’t being wrapped.  The bold Lexar Homes logo is large and easy to read, even when the truck is on the road.

This truck wrap was printed on Avery vinyl wrap film with a gloss laminate.  Our install team did a great job applying the vinyl to the vehicle for a seamless finish.  “The truck looks great!”  Bob Oliver of Lexar Homes said.  “We appreciate your great and professional work!”

Last year, we did a large acrylic wall sign for Oral Surgery Plus.  They initially wanted a glass sign, but it was going to be too heavy for the size they wanted.  We suggested acrylic instead.  It’s not only lighter, but also more durable than glass.  As soon as their new location was secured, they called us for more custom office signs.  This time, they went all out, not only ordering an acrylic wall sign, but also door decals, suite signs, and a directory sign.  But that wasn’t all.

Custom Office Signs

The three largest installments for their newest location were dimensional letters, a logo sign and a directory sign.  A six-foot stretch of half inch thick acrylic dimensional letters with standoff mounts packs the impact right at the entrance.  The large brushed aluminum and colored acrylic logo sign was installed in the reception area.  Finally, a Vista directory sign shows which doctors are working, and names can be easily changed out each day.  The smaller, but no less important, office signs included door decals and suite signs.

These high-end touches really make their oral surgery office stand out, building their professional image and winning patients’ trust and confidence.

Building signs and outdoor wall signs need updating over the years due to normal wear and tear, a name change, or new management.  Signs for Success delivers creative solutions for building sign makeovers.  A large facility in Spokane recently came under new management and needed to replace old dimensional letters with a new building sign.  The design challenge was how to cover the old holes where the letters had been installed into the building fascia.

Signs for Success designer Vanessa Bogensberger came up with a unique solution by mounting the new dimensional letters to a large brushed aluminum composite sign.  Not only did this cover the unsightly holes, it added drama and a sleek, professional look to the building.

“We knew that there were many holes where the old letters were mounted to the fascia, so we determined that it would make more sense to cover the area with brushed aluminum composite panels, and mount the new dimensional letters to them,” Vanessa explained.  “Then we hung [the panels] on the fascia, covering the old holes that had been sealed.”

To get the dimensional letter onto this large sign, Signs for Success installers first laid out the six approximately 4’ x 8’ aluminum panels on the production floor.  They were then able to install the lettering and logo accurately.  There are several advantages to using aluminum composite (ACM) for outdoor signs.  It is a long term outdoor durable sign material that comes in different finishes, including this modern brushed finish.
