Unique Restaurant Signs and Graphics for A Unique Restaurant

What makes a restaurant unique? What if I told you there was a restaurant where you could get some of the best food and beverages in town and adopt a pet all in one trip! Sounds like fun right? Well the place to go is Bark A Rescue Pub. Bark in partnership with the Spokane Humane Society have created that place. Bark owners Josh Wade & Katie Holmes contacted us early on in the project to help them create the unique signage needed to create a unique ambiance for such a unique restaurant. The project included a wide variety of indoor and outdoor signs. It also incorporated a wide variety of environmental elements to create unique ambiance the owners desired.

Environmental Graphics

We created seamless wall logo wrap incorporating their iconic logo for sections of the interior of Bark, A Rescue Pub. These graphics can be installed on a variety of different walls and locations. We worked closely with existing branding to ensure all colors matched precisely as needed.

We created an acrylic dimensional fire-hydrant which was cut on our CNC machine. This was installed onto the customer’s wall with studs and spacers.

We Used a product called “Etchmark” which gives the appearance of frosted glass on window and a hanging sign to promote the Humane Society.

Faux Etched Glass Film

At the main entrance we added logos to the front doors and on the patio entrance we created and installed a stud-mounted white acrylic logo which hangs over the side entrance to the restaurant. This was made on our CNC
machine utilizing 1/2″ white acrylic. We are able to install signage even onto uneven surfaces such as brick and stone walls!

Design Renderings

We created a large steel pylon sign to attract attention from the main road near the restaurant. We created realistic concept renders to help visualize what the completed sign would look like. We worked with the city of Spokane to ensure all requirements were fulfilled prior to finalizing the sign. We used plot-cut reflective vinyl on the steel arches to help visibility of the logo – even at night.

Additionally we created the vinyl header for the “Furever Homes” wall, a backlit sign, sidewalk graphics, and feather flags to draw attention at the road.

indoor wall murals add interest to the Avista Jimmy Dean Center in Spokane

Custom Facility Signs for Avista’s Jimmy Dean Center

Illuminated channel letterset, custom channel letters for AvistaAvista Corp., the Spokane-based energy company, needed custom facility signs with consistent branding for their new maintenance and repair facility. Officially named the “Jimmy Dean Center,” it includes a 15,100 square foot maintenance building and adjacent compressed natural gas fueling station. The Jimmy Dean Center is named for a gas line worker who died while responding to an outage after hours in the winter of 1996.

As with any large facility, signs are needed throughout to inform and direct. New signs at the Jimmy Dean Center include:

  1. An Acrylic Lobby Sign
  2. Illuminated Channel Letterset for the outside of the building
  3. Large Etchmark letter “G” on entry glass
  4. Outdoor Aluminum and Acrylic Facility Entrance Sign
  5. Directional Signs, and
  6. A Series of Indoor Wall Murals

  1. The logo lobby sign was created with three different layers on cut acrylic. The first surface is white cut vinyl with the Avista logo. The second surface is etchmark vinyl gives the look of frosted glass, custom facility signsEtchmark vinyl, a translucent film that gives the look of “etched” or frosted glass. Finally, the Etchmark vinyl is backed with a medium gray film.  “Two second surface layers gives it a unique aesthetic,” Signs for Success’ Bryce Morrison said. The dimensional look is enhanced with ¾-inch brushed silver standoffs.

2. On the outside of the building, you are greeted by a custom illuminated channel letterset. By adding blue vinyl and reverse weeding to create the white negative space, we were able to perfectly match their logo.

The graphics cover several sections of glass over approximately 11 square feet.  Avery Etchmark film adds a little privacy and the upscale look of sandblasted glass.

4. The Facility Entrance Sign uses an aluminum cabinet painted blue to match Avista’s branding. “Jimmy Dean Center” is cut from the aluminum face, with half inch white acrylic letters pushed through. The acrylic is illuminated, and creates an overall simple and modern entrance sign.

Each sign is printed on ACM (Aluminum Composite Material) and laminated for added durability.  They are a combination of single and double sided signs, either 24” square or 18” square, and all county compliant.

6. Finally, a series of wall murals adds interest to the interior of the facility.  We installed over 100 linear feet of historical Avista photos and local history. A wall mural “offers great interior graphic options, brings the building’s character to life, and unifies all spaces,” Bryce explained.

Custom Outdoor Signs Complement New Connections Garden

Their goal is to showcase

Custom Outdoor Sign - Basalt, steel, acrylic and wood

Spokane’s sister cities while attracting new and repeat visitors to the historic Riverfront park.

The new garden provides a space to honor and celebrate the importance of Spokane’s Sister Cities through nature and art. It is placed at the site of the former Japanese Pavilion at the Expo ’74 World’s Fair.  The garden features sculptures from partnerships with Limerick, Ireland; Nishinomiya, Japan; and Spokane. Plans are underway for art from partner cities in Jilin, China; Jecheon, South Korea; and Cagli, Italy.

In addition to one of a kind art pieces placed throughout the garden, custom signs made from natural materials help guide you through the garden.  Using a combination of stone, steel, wood, acrylic and ACM (aluminum composite material), the signs add to the artistry of the area.

The custom outdoor signs are meant to inform and direct without taking anything away from the natural scenery, sculptures, and symbolism.  For example, the blue-green curved pathways symbolize the connections of the Sister Cities’ rivers to the oceans of the world.  To continue the theme, blue and green curved acrylic pieces adorn the signs along the path. The multidimensional signs are mounted to stone monuments.

All of the materials chosen are also outdoor durable and will look great for many years to come.  Do you need unique custom designed signs for an outdoor space? We can help with that! Salon custom hanging way finding sign, shape cut iron sign

Custom Hanging Way Finding Signs Match Decor

Iron hanging laundry sign, custom hanging way finding signs for retirement communityRiverview Retirement Community was looking for memorable directional signs to place within their building.  The custom hanging way finding signs we came up with incorporate iconic symbols to serve as natural landmarks throughout the building.

Iron garden sign, hanging way finding sign“Amy Anderson from Complete Office was instrumental in bringing this project to us.  She envisioned something with personality, and in her words, “maybe something a little old-fashioned in design,”” Signs for Success sales specialist Tom Bross said.  Together we came up something more special than simply the word ‘laundry’ or ‘garden’.  A custom shape cut shirt, watering can and scissors along with the words laundry, garden and salon make these signs unique and easily recognizable.  “Amy sold the client on the project and then generously allowed Signs for Success to work directly with Riverview on the signs.”

The set of three, dimensional flag-mounted signs all matched in concept, materials, color and size. The directional signs feature a small classic iron scroll pattern.  We painted all the mounting hardware black to match.  The shape-cut symbols for laundry, salon and garden really set these signs apart.

“They worked so well in the first building, they ordered a second set specifically for the Memory Care building,” Tom said. “We also did a beautiful acrylic stand-off timeline sign for the lobby.”

Custom hanging way finding signs help people get where they need to go.  Directional signs can match a theme or marketing scheme to create a unique and Salon custom hanging way finding sign, shape cut iron signunified look within an office or healthcare building.  These directional signs will help community members and visitors reach their destination quickly and easily.

Warehouse roof mounted panel sign with molded plastic letters, outdoor business signs

Outdoor Business Signs at Justus Bag

Warehouse roof mounted panel sign with molded plastic letters, outdoor business signsJustus Bag Company needed updated outdoor business signs for their warehouse on Trent, including a roof-mounted panel sign and a sign for the side of the building that faces the street.  We were able to come up with a solution that is both modern and brand-consistent for their needs.

“The client wanted to update their current roof mounted signs with a cleaner, more modern look. After coming to understand their brand, Earl Van Eaton and I decided a vertical sign with just the company name would work best,” Signs for Success sales specialist Tom Bross explained. We used custom molded plastic letters mounted to 3mm Aluminum Composite Material (ACM) to create the roof-top sign.  “The signs are lit from below, so day or night, the new signs make a good impression.”

Justus Bag building sign in Spokane, new outdoor business signsThe warehouse had its own challenges, namely the surface texture.  “The warehouse was like a big empty canvas, albeit a bumpy one. Instead of applying vinyl directly to the surface, we opted to make a large direct-print ACM sign that was printed and assembled in sections. This gave us a nice white flat background to enlarge the logo on to,” Tom explained.  “The two signs work well together. They look professional, clean and are brand consistent.”

ACM is outdoor durable, makes a great printing surface, and lasts several years. Adding custom graphics or molded dimensional letters to ACM can make a bold statement while keeping with the goal of simple and effective signage.  New signs make a great impression, and these modern outdoor business signs will look great for many years to come.

way finding signs building sign at VA Hospital

Changeable Way Finding Signs at VA Hospital

way finding signs building sign at VA HospitalThe Mann-Grandstaff VA Medical Center is using new way finding signs to direct people from their cars to the different buildings.  The updated signs help people feel comfortable and confident finding the correct building or office.  They also allow signs to be changed out easily in the event a clinic or doctor moves locations within the campus.

The Mann-Grandstaff VAMC and its clinics serve more than 30,000 Veterans annually throughout Central and Eastern Washington, Northern Idaho and Northwestern Montana.

“The campus is large enough now that people can get lost.  They needed way finding signs with replaceable, changeable sections of the sign,” Signs for Success sales specialist Julie Dean said.  “The new signs allow for removability.  If a general practice doctor moves, or the senior living center moves to another building, they can move that piece from one sign to another.”

changeable way finding signs spokaneThe project included a total of 14 way finding signs, some as tall as 8 feet.

The signs are uniform in appearance and easy to find and read.  Each partition is made of aluminum composite material (ACM).  The 48” wide signs have long-term, high performance vinyl with cut vinyl reflective lettering and directional arrow.  “They also wanted to update their colors; all the exteriors are changing from brown to sapphire blue.  The color is permeated into the vinyl which makes it extremely fade resistant.  The reflective white lettering on top gives it a nice pop,” Julie said.  The post signs match the sapphire blue building signs, making finding the right building a cinch.

way finding signs installed at Mann-Grandstaff VAMCEach aluminum post is secured onto a steel plate, bolted into concrete footings.  If the sign is ever hit, the aluminum posts can be replaced without having to re-dig the footings.  This type of sign is great for high traffic areas, and they even withstood two hurricanes in Florida in 2017.

There were several key factors the Mann-Grandstaff VAMC needed to cover, including changeability and durability.  We took the time to listen to the customer’s needs and find the best option.  “We will take the time necessary to research fabricators to adapt to the needs of your company or industry for the length of time you need them,” Julie said.  “These signs will last 20+ years, and they can keep interchanging partitions.”

Lighted Bank Signs at INB

Before/After Daytime

Over the years, we have worked with Inland Northwest Bank (INB) on several outdoor sign projects.  Many required not only new lighted bank signs, but often a complete makeover to achieve a unified look across all branch locations.

Back in 2015 we were contacted by Jason Miller and Denise Satterfield from INB Headquarters to bid the changeover of the Palouse Bank of Fairfield branches to INB.  “We not only changed out existing faces of old signs, but updated with new bulbs and painted cabinets for a fresher look.  We also put new vinyl hours and logo on the doors,” Signs for Success designer Vanessa Bogensberger said.

Before/After Lighted in the Evening

In 2017, INB wanted to update the Spokane area branches with a more contemporary look.  Each location was unique and required a unique solution.  “We met with them and brainstormed options to update their logo,” Vanessa explained.  “Each branch was slightly different, so we worked with their limitations and desires and came up with some great options.”  The recommended changes fit the sign structures they already had, but created the unified, updated look they were going for.

At the Ruby branch (pictured above and right), we first covered the lightbox area of the pole sign with a painted metal panel.  Adding lighted channel letters over the panel adds dimension and looks great day and night.  At the Francis branch, (pictured below) we installed Day-gray/Night-white channel letters on their existing pole sign.Channel letters come in a variety of finishes and are outdoor durable, making them perfect for storefront signage.

“He wanted a double layer, cut out (like a stencil) metal sign face,” Vanessa explained.  Laser cut or stencil cut metal signs are smooth with a clean, modern look.  “The sign face was shape cut and the design cut out of it, then it was powder-coated flint gray.  The posts and solid, shaped backer panel were powder-coated black.”

They needed signage to identify their office, attract attention and help applicants for positions in the new casino find the temporary offices.  These outdoor office signs do just that, with a large billboard sign as well as a standard building sign above the front door.  The signs were designed by BHW1, then sent to Signs for Success for production and installation. Additionally we were under tight turn around time, as the signs were unveiled at a press conference revealing the name of the new casino and the brand.
