rear view of full body racing stripes, corvette racing stripesWe used knifeless tape to apply the Corvette racing stripes.  We are very careful with every vehicle.  “Tracy’s Corvette was in very good shape and we did not want to scratch it,” Signs for Success designer Vanessa Bogensberger said.  Knifeless tape eliminates the danger of scratching a vehicle.  “Traditionally, you would have to use a blade to cut vinyl.  The knifeless tape eliminates the possibility of cutting the vinyl too deep and scratching the paint,” Signs for Success installer Rich Wilke explained.

Knifeless tape also enables the installer to create visually straight lines over a surface that isn’t straight or flat at all.  The tape is extremely flexible and turns smoothly, conforming to even the tightest contours.  By laying and re-positioning the tape first, the vinyl can then be applied and cut away to achieve precise cut lines.

“We did some logo and vinyl work for Roberts Freebourne in both their old location as well as this new office space. When they hired Tiffany at Blue Door Décor for interior design work, she gave us a call about ideas for wall art,” Signs for Success designer Vanessa Bogensberger said.  “We talked about Gator Plast with block standoffs, wood plank art, dimensional lettering, and others.  She had a specific idea for their environmental graphics, so we ended up with custom printed wood plank art of the silhouette of a world map with a dimensional metal logo placed in the Pacific Northwest.”

Printed Wood Art Tips & Tricks

Printing on wood can sometimes be tricky.  Because wood is not white, like most print materials, colors appear warmer.  This can be a desired effect for some, but with most wood printing, we print a layer of white ink in the silhouette of the graphics first, then print color over it to maintain vibrant color.  A second challenge we face when printing to wood is the imperfection of the surface.  “Since wood is by nature imperfect, the printing was not crisp and sharp,” Vanessa explained.  “We actually had to print three times with multiple tests.”  We solved the issue by pre-coating the boards, then printing on top of the finish.  The result is a unique, beautiful piece of printed wood art.

“I started working with Mike Douglas from Quality Custom Distribution – Rocky Mountain in early August.  We had done a mural for the Spokane Valley location, and he saw it and wanted something for his Denver location,” Signs for Success designer Vanessa Bogensberger said.  “We got approval to proceed in early September.  Then we spent a few weeks with various options in design and layout, finding good images of the Denver Skyline.”

stretched canvas print, large gallery wrapped canvas for Northern Quest Resort and CasinoStretched canvas, also known as “gallery wrapped,” is a method of stretching and securing an artist’s canvas around the sides of a wooden frame.  A stretched canvas print is easy to hang and looks great.  This custom stretched canvas print was created with custom sizing and quick turnaround for Northern Quest Resort and Casino.

“Charlie from Northern Quest Resort and Casino called to ask us if we could get a canvas print out quickly and if we could make a 5′ x 5′ piece,” Signs for Success designer Vanessa Bogensberger explained.  Our largest stocked roll of white-coated canvas is 63” wide.  For the quick turnaround the customer needed, we were able to make a 58” x 58” print, allowing the necessary 2 ½ inches of material all the way around for wrapping the stretcher bars.

“We were able to take his fantastic artwork and make up an awesome visual for his environmental graphics on his wall,” Vanessa said.  The stretched canvas print is being used to promote Northern Quest’s current expansion project.
