Donar Wall Signs for recognition of supporters

Tempered Glass Donor Signs are Clean & Modern

Donar Wall Signs for recognition of supportersLooking for high-class donor signs with a clean, modern aesthetic?  Glass or acrylic signs make the perfect addition to any business.  2nd Harvest’s most recent project for attractive Donor Signs was achieved using tempered glass with a finely polished edge.

The donor signs were mounted to a slat-wood wall in the 2nd Harvest Kitchen.  Clean and modern against warm and a bit rustic makes for a very attractive sponsor wall.

Another tempered glass sign nearby in the Kitchen Addition was backed with dusted crystal vinyl.  The vinyl backing gives the look of sandblasted glass, and it also helps soften the shadow cast by the signs.

Glass donor wall signs with stand offs for a 3-D affect“The original panels cast a little bit of a shadow, and the one backed with the dusted crystal mutes the shadowing somewhat.  We may add this behind the original ones at some point,” Signs for Success designer Vanessa Bogensberger said.

We can print on the reverse side of acrylic or glass so inks are protected from scratching and other wear and tear.  Or, as in this case, we can add a specialty vinyl to the back to change the look of the finished print.  When used with standoffs or special lighting, these signs really shine.

Glass and Acrylic make great donor signs. They can also be used for:

  • Lobby Signs
  • Display Walls
  • Backlit Signs
  • Standoff Signs
  • And more!

Fire Department Emblem Signs

fire department emblem signs look great on 17 spokane stations, custom acm aluminum signsNew Fire Department Emblem Signs create consistency among 17 Spokane Fire Department stations.  These four and a half foot emblems create uniformity and unique “branding” for the fire stations.

This is a large project that has taken many months to come to fruition.  With the different locations involved, as well as funding and approvals, it just takes time.  But the biggest challenge, according to Signs for Success designer Julie Dean, was getting the color just right.

“Having to match the gold and the red was a really great feat to accomplish—not only to get the red right, but to make that gold look like the gold emblem,” Julie said.  Their vehicle decals have real 22K gold in the vinyl.  This makes it more challenging to find a perfect match.

Perfect Color and Placement

After a bit of testing, however, we found that printing onto vinyl using our solvent printer achieved the best color.  “Printed high performance vinyl got the best color; it was perfect,” Julie said.  “They took the sample around the station and were really happy with it.”  An added bonus of printing to vinyl, rather than directly to the surface, is the ability to add bleed to the print.  This in turn allows perfect edge to edge placement on the unique emblem shape.

Fire Department Emblem Sign Material

There are a lot of outdoor durable sign materials that could work for this project. After discussing the options, we decided on 3mm ACM (aluminum composite material).  “ACM is two thin alumDimensional Emblem Signinum panels sandwiching a plastic core,” Julie explained.  “Durability is extreme, but the expense is moderate” when compared to a thicker material or solid aluminum.

Each sign is mounted with black standoffs and decorative knobs on the face that are tamper-proof.  “They are offset from the brick of the building just a little bit, and we were able to shape cut their shield, which gives extraordinary dimension,” Julie said.

At present, we have 9 Fire Department emblem signs installed, and over the next couple of months we will be doing the other 8 locations, one of them the training station. The remaining eight buildings will take a little longer because they’re not prototypical.  Since each building is different, sign placement has to be evaluated and approved.

“I can’t tell you just how thankful we are that you helped us ‘brand’ the fire department,” Fire Chief Brian Schaeffer said.  “The finished products [are] amazing!”

Get Noticed with Custom Yard Signs

Custom yard signs advertise your work in the communities you serve.  They promote awareness and boost consumer confidence in a company’s ability to provide excellent services or products.  In short, people are more likely to go with a company that others have chosen.  Leaving yard signs at houses and businesses you’ve serviced lets others know you are the business of choice.  In a way, it carries the weight of a positive review and refers others to you.

Yard signs offer the opportunity to promote certain services or promotions.  At minimum, your yard sign should have your logo and phone number and/or website.  Colors can be customized to match your logo, vehicles or other branding style.  Even this small amount of information can be enough to connect customers to your business, while too much information is confusing, cluttered and unprofessional looking.

Yard signs are especially effective when they showcase work that’s visible from the street.  Custom yard signs are essential for:

  • Contractors
  • Roofers
  • Landscapers and Lawn Care Specialists

They’re also great for any indoor work, renovations or repairs that others in the neighborhood might be in the market for.

Now is a great time to stock up on yard signs.  Standard yard signs are rectangular and measure 18 inches by 24 inches.  This offers the most efficient use of material.  However, you can opt to customize your size and shape to get a unique look that sets your signs apart from others in the neighborhood.  Our design team can help you set up artwork and choose what features best represent your company, vision and budget.

This spring, get seen by neighbors, walkers, bike riders, and more with professional, custom yard signs.  Signs for Success is a locally owned family business in Spokane, and we strive for excellent customer service, perfect color, and quick turnaround on every project.  Our large production facility allows us to design, print and install everything in-house.  Contact us for a free quote on custom yard signs today!

dimensional letters on wood plank wall custom signs by Signs for Success, church signs

Church Signs for True Hope Church

church signs building signs spokane True Hope Church recently acquired the Lincoln Center, and they are planning a large renovation in the summer of 2018.  But until then, they need directional church signs to help people get to the auditorium, classes, and restrooms.

“It was a good, inexpensive way to get the signs they needed, to last the six months or so until the renovation,” Signs for Success designer Jamie Wood said.  “They wanted temporary signage that was inexpensive but still looks nice.”

way finding signs for True Hope Church in SpokaneThere were some existing signs in the building that we were able to reuse by turning them over and putting cut vinyl on the back, then rehanging.  Other signs were printed on foam core, an inexpensive material that is great for indoor signs.  Foam core has a smooth paper surface, but, like its name, it has a foam “core” that makes the product rigid.  By printing white lettering on a dark grey background, we were able to match the existing signs for a unified look throughout the building.

“They have a pretty specific branding look, so we stuck with that,” Jamie explained.  “We had their logo watermarked in the background with all the information.”

dimensional letters on wood plank wall custom signs by Signs for SuccessAside from the directional signs, there was another aspect of this project that is meant to be long-term.  “True Hope Kids” in large dimensional letters is located on a wall that will not be affected by the renovation.  Not worried about replacing this wall sign any time soon, the customer chose to create bold letters that are stud mounted to a wall of planked wood.  The glossy white acrylic contrasts against the natural wood planks, and mounted about ¾” off the wall, it looks amazing.

Wire Standoff System Creates Modern Wall Display

wire standoff system on custom wall display for SNAP spokaneA unique wall display on a wire standoff system was the perfect solution for SNAP in Spokane a few years ago.  It was so well received that they came back for a similar display dubbed the “Gold Club Wall,” wires and all.

“Back in 2014, we worked on a donor wall that was on wire cabling and standoffs.  It turned out beautifully. When Jennifer Martin was ready to have another wall done, they reached out to us to help with production and installation,” Signs for Success designer Vanessa Bogensberger said.

“We have a similar display that Signs for Success did for SNAP’s Capital Campaign.  We wanted to keep the same design since the Gold Club wall is on a wall near the other display,” Jennifer Martin of SNAP Spokane explained.  Donations go towards their mission of providing opportunities for people in need.

Signs for Success designer Jamie Wood took the provided photos and content and laid out a similar wall with photos juxtaposed with sponsor panels.  The donor names are applied as needed with cut vinyl lettering onto brushed gold ACM (aluminum composite material) panels.  The display is installed on a wire standoff system using cables and standoff mounts.  The look is modern and industrial while creating a dimensional look.

“It’s a great example of environmental graphics adding to the pleasing atmosphere of their offices,” Vanessa said.  Environmental graphics are graphics that improve the visual environment and enhance a person’s experience.  The new wall display fills a blank space with uplifting content, visually showing SNAP’s progression towards a goal.  Donor walls like this one can boost morale, and even performance, as they encourage the individual to work toward a collective goal.  It’s also visually appealing with its clean, modern  design.

“We are very pleased with the final product,” Jennifer said.  “It really brightens up the hallway and everyone notices it immediately.”

The first wall we did for SNAP was described as modern, polished and professional.  The new wall coordinates well, is equally attractive and will be enjoyed for many years to come.  Signs for Success is a locally owned family business in Spokane, and we strive for excellent customer service, perfect color, and quick turnaround on every project.  Our large production facility allows us to design, print and install everything in-house.  Contact us for a free quote on a wire standoff system today! Foam core is a great sign material for temporary indoor event signs.  Its clean lines and smooth matte finish offer high quality prints in vibrant color.  In addition, foam core is lightweight, making it easy to transport to an event site and set up.  For most foam core event signs, we add a stand to make a free-standing sign.  These “standees” can be either rectangular or shape cut.

Foam Core Event Signs are great for:

  • Trade shows
  • Fundraisers
  • Sponsor recognition
  • Goal thermometers
  • Auctions, and more!

This event sign was printed on a full sheet of 4×8 foam core and made into a standee for the 2nd Harvest “Taking a Bite Out of Hunger” event.  The graphics recognize sponsors whose donations make 2nd Harvest’s mission possible.  With sponsor support, 2nd Harvest is able to distribute free food to fight hunger in Spokane and the Inland Northwest.

Changeable Way Finding Signs at VA Hospital

way finding signs building sign at VA HospitalThe Mann-Grandstaff VA Medical Center is using new way finding signs to direct people from their cars to the different buildings.  The updated signs help people feel comfortable and confident finding the correct building or office.  They also allow signs to be changed out easily in the event a clinic or doctor moves locations within the campus.

The Mann-Grandstaff VAMC and its clinics serve more than 30,000 Veterans annually throughout Central and Eastern Washington, Northern Idaho and Northwestern Montana.

“The campus is large enough now that people can get lost.  They needed way finding signs with replaceable, changeable sections of the sign,” Signs for Success sales specialist Julie Dean said.  “The new signs allow for removability.  If a general practice doctor moves, or the senior living center moves to another building, they can move that piece from one sign to another.”

changeable way finding signs spokaneThe project included a total of 14 way finding signs, some as tall as 8 feet.

The signs are uniform in appearance and easy to find and read.  Each partition is made of aluminum composite material (ACM).  The 48” wide signs have long-term, high performance vinyl with cut vinyl reflective lettering and directional arrow.  “They also wanted to update their colors; all the exteriors are changing from brown to sapphire blue.  The color is permeated into the vinyl which makes it extremely fade resistant.  The reflective white lettering on top gives it a nice pop,” Julie said.  The post signs match the sapphire blue building signs, making finding the right building a cinch.

way finding signs installed at Mann-Grandstaff VAMCEach aluminum post is secured onto a steel plate, bolted into concrete footings.  If the sign is ever hit, the aluminum posts can be replaced without having to re-dig the footings.  This type of sign is great for high traffic areas, and they even withstood two hurricanes in Florida in 2017.

There were several key factors the Mann-Grandstaff VAMC needed to cover, including changeability and durability.  We took the time to listen to the customer’s needs and find the best option.  “We will take the time necessary to research fabricators to adapt to the needs of your company or industry for the length of time you need them,” Julie said.  “These signs will last 20+ years, and they can keep interchanging partitions.”

Lighted Bank Signs at INB

Before/After Daytime

Over the years, we have worked with Inland Northwest Bank (INB) on several outdoor sign projects.  Many required not only new lighted bank signs, but often a complete makeover to achieve a unified look across all branch locations.

Back in 2015 we were contacted by Jason Miller and Denise Satterfield from INB Headquarters to bid the changeover of the Palouse Bank of Fairfield branches to INB.  “We not only changed out existing faces of old signs, but updated with new bulbs and painted cabinets for a fresher look.  We also put new vinyl hours and logo on the doors,” Signs for Success designer Vanessa Bogensberger said.

Before/After Lighted in the Evening

In 2017, INB wanted to update the Spokane area branches with a more contemporary look.  Each location was unique and required a unique solution.  “We met with them and brainstormed options to update their logo,” Vanessa explained.  “Each branch was slightly different, so we worked with their limitations and desires and came up with some great options.”  The recommended changes fit the sign structures they already had, but created the unified, updated look they were going for.

At the Ruby branch (pictured above and right), we first covered the lightbox area of the pole sign with a painted metal panel.  Adding lighted channel letters over the panel adds dimension and looks great day and night.  At the Francis branch, (pictured below) we installed Day-gray/Night-white channel letters on their existing pole sign.Channel letters come in a variety of finishes and are outdoor durable, making them perfect for storefront signage.

Town Sign for Senior Class Gift

Custom Routed Town SignA welcoming Town Sign is a lovely addition to any town, big or small.  Rosalia High School’s senior class sponsored beautiful new “Welcome to Rosalia” signs to give back to their town.  Signs for Success designer Vanessa Bogensberger brainstormed with Sean Moss from Rosalia School District to come up with the town sign design.  The result is a modern design with durable finishes that will look great for many years.

Design

“He wanted a double layer, cut out (like a stencil) metal sign face,” Vanessa explained.  Laser cut or stencil cut metal signs are smooth with a clean, modern look.  “The sign face was shape cut and the design cut out of it, then it was powder-coated flint gray.  The posts and solid, shaped backer panel were powder-coated black.”

Materials & Installation

EWU Custom School Donor Wall

school donor wall dimensional signs at Eastern Washington University LibraryThis unique School Donor Wall was created to thank donors and recognize scholarship recipients.  The Eastern Washington University Library received a sizable donation from the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity, dating back to the 1960s graduates, partly to fund the annual Randy Van Turner scholarship.  Randy Van Turner was an EWU graduate and founding member of the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity at EWU; he was killed in action in Vietnam.  The scholarship in his name has been awarded annually since 2014.

The school donor wall is placed at the entry of Eastern Washington University’s library, and is made up of several pieces.  The layered dimensional effect is achieved with multiple materials, from acrylic to brushed metal, working in great combination.

dimensional signs with stand off mounts for EWU scholarship by Signs for SuccessSchool Donor Wall Elements

For this project, the blue waves and top trapezoidal piece are acrylic, the black bars are PVC, the dimensional lettering is brushed silver, and the logo is high performance adhesive vinyl.  The plaque on the left is engraved with the scholarship contributors, and the plaque on the right is a Vista anodized aluminum frame that offers the ability for the university to change the graphics with names of new recipients.

“The wall art is multi-dimensional and layered for an exceptional effect,” Signs for Success’ Julie Dean said. “From the initial contact, several general concepts and materials were considered.  In the end, Signs for Success design department vectored, made design adjustment, and set up a concept created by Carol King of the EWU Library.”

To have all these elements designed, printed, ordered and installed – concept to installation – was just shy of four weeks.  Even with the various design aspects and vendors involved we were able to complete the project within a month.
