Although we have worked with Paint Room Studios to produce custom acrylic signs for Twigs in the past, our most recent partnership brought new challenges and experience, from a fun photo shoot to creating custom signs with our new UV printable acrylic. These acrylic signs work double duty as both attractive bar art and a privacy screen.
Twigs’ newest location in Salt Lake City, Utah presented some unique challenges. Because of laws in Utah, they couldn’t use the usual martini artwork behind the bar (pictured left). In addition, they needed the artwork to double as a privacy screen since drinks cannot be mixed at the bar. The solution to the first challenge was to come up with a new concept for the design. The legs and feet of people standing or sitting at the bar became the new image. “They needed male models so Joe and I showed up,” Signs for Success designer Will Oakley said. “My legs and feet are featured in three of the four panels, and Joe’s legs are in one of the panels. It was a fun modeling shoot.”
Once Will received the edited photos from the client, it was time to tackle the second challenge. “I added the white, which was a little tricky. We backed the important parts of the image – legs, feet and chairs – with 100% white to give that depth perception and bring those objects to the foreground. I made a special layer for the 100% white and traced legs, feet, and barstools. The rest of the image is backed with 10% white which gives the background a semi-transparent dusted crystal look,” Will explained. The dusted crystal effect is perfect for added privacy. Each of the 4’ x 6’ acrylic panels were installed on location into standard window channels to serve as both art and the needed privacy screen behind the bar.
Our new UV printable acrylic was a dream to work with. In the past we have used standard acrylic, but because it’s so glossy the ink doesn’t stick very well and we have to cover the printed surface with several layers of vinyl laminate to protect the ink. UV printable acrylic offers a better printing surface. Straight out the printer, the ink is dry and fairly scratch-proof. We still cover the printed area with a single layer of laminate for added protection. The front of each panel was also laminated in a matte laminate to give an anti-glare finish. UV printable acrylic signs are perfect indoor signs for businesses and restaurants. They are durable, sleek, and scratch and fade resistant.

Lighted wall signs demand attention and can be used to create a statement logo sign in a professional setting as well as bring attention to specials on a restaurant menu. These Lighted wall signs make an impact at Interlink, an internet service and IT solutions provider in Spokane.
To create these wall signs, we used two layers of 6mm PVC. The signs were individually shape-cut by Spokane WaterKnife to achieve a smooth edge and custom shape. The second layer of PVC hides the string of LED lights that are mounted on the back just inside the outer edge. The sign faces are cut high-performance vinyl, which was laminated, then applied to the shape-cut PVC. The finished product looks sleek and professional.
Lighted wall signs are great for:
- Office buildings
- Airports, and more!
Indoor wall signs can be custom sized and shaped to fit individual needs or preferences and created with or without LED lighting. Another option in lighted wall signs is a backlit sign. This is a sign, usually with a Lexan or acrylic sign face, inserted over a light box. We create stunning backlit signs using our “triple strike” method which utilizes white ink between two layers of full color to ensure perfect color no matter what the outside lighting is like.

Updating an old post sign can be an easy decision, but where there are strict regulations, it can get a little tricky. Dr. Melissa Loucks at Ivory Denture Clinic knew it was time for a new sign when the old one started flaking, but the landlord would not allow for a new structure to be installed. The biggest challenge was how to update the sign while sticking to the landlord’s rules – that is, without replacing the existing structure and not changing anything significant to the sign.
“We initially proposed a new vinyl post & rail sign system, but the landlord did not approve the change,” Signs for Success designer Vanessa Bogensberger said. What finally got approved was to take out the old sign faces and replace with newly designed faces, as well as a new coat of paint for the post sign structure.
The old post sign faces were made of corrugated plastic and were brittle and flaking. The new sign is made of 3mm PVC, which is smoother and will look good much longer.
“When we pulled out the old sign faces, we found the rails were rotted, so we replaced them,” Vanessa explained. “Then we primed and painted the structure to the new color and put in the new faces.” This post sign makeover turned out great. With a fresh coat of paint to match a fresh design, not to mention the repaired rails and more durable sign product, this office post sign will look good for many years to come.

ScrumDiddlyUmptious Donuts needed colorful new menu signs Spokane. Signs for Success worked with them to create the design, layout, printing and installation of brand new menu boards, indoors and out. Indoors, they have a menu board with fixed pricing that is printed in three panels. On one panel is an area that is laminated with Graffiti-free laminate for writing on. We created a matching single-sided menu board for the drive-thru window.
We can print on new material or refurbish existing sign panels. We’ve done several menu board projects, including backlit menu signs and write-on signs.
Custom menu signs Spokane are great for:
- Bistros & cafés
- Espresso stands
- Drive-thru windows
- Food trucks & tents
Custom menu signs are designed to get your message across effectively and match with existing logo colors, décor or theme. They are custom sized to fit any space, and different mounting or hanging methods can accommodate a variety of settings. Our write-on signs are a great option for advertising specials or adding a message that gets changed frequently. You may choose to print a logo or solid color backdrop on any write-on area. Following printing, we apply a dry-erase laminate that wipes clean and protects any printed graphics underneath.

First impressions are everything when a new customer walks into an office building. Having clear and coordinating office signs adds to the professionalism of a business. Outfit an entire office building with coordinating office signs, door signs, reception signage, changeable directory signs and more!
Last year, we did a large acrylic wall sign for Oral Surgery Plus. They initially wanted a glass sign, but it was going to be too heavy for the size they wanted. We suggested acrylic instead. It’s not only lighter, but also more durable than glass. As soon as their new location was secured, they called us for more custom office signs. This time, they went all out, not only ordering an acrylic wall sign, but also door decals, suite signs, and a directory sign. But that wasn’t all.
Custom Office Signs
The three largest installments for their newest location were dimensional letters, a logo sign and a directory sign. A six-foot stretch of half inch thick acrylic dimensional letters with standoff mounts packs the impact right at the entrance. The large brushed aluminum and colored acrylic logo sign was installed in the reception area. Finally, a Vista directory sign shows which doctors are working, and names can be easily changed out each day. The smaller, but no less important, office signs included door decals and suite signs.
These high-end touches really make their oral surgery office stand out, building their professional image and winning patients’ trust and confidence.
Each office is different, and layout plays a big factor in what types of signs are needed. From suite signs to directional signs, we can come up with a design that coordinates the entire project. “It was one of those projects where we went in and measured all the walls, then came up with concepts and designs,” Signs for Success designer Will Oakley explained. Our experienced design team can work with existing logo and artwork, or help you come up with a new logo concept. Wherever you might be in your advertising, Signs for Success can help you develop your brand image and recommend the best signs and materials for your individual needs. Contact us for a free quote!
Next IT, an innovator in digital customer service, has built several client walls in their office using 3mm PVC signs Spokane. “Every time we sign a new client and I get to install a new logo on the wall the employees always have positive comments,” Next IT Associate Creative Director Renae Wood said. “We take on each client and project with our whole hearts so there’s a sense of pride seeing the logo of the project that they are working on up on the wall.” Walls devoted to signs or a collage of signs can add to morale, help employees work towards a team goal, or thank sponsors.
These full color signs are individually printed and hung to show the companies they partner with. There are three such walls of signs in their Spokane office building. “The signs have turned out perfect. Both the material and printing are high-quality,” Renae said.
PVC signs Spokane are versatile in their applications. They can be stand-off mounted or mounted flush with the wall, frosted or full color, and can be used for a variety of sign types, from wayfinding signs and maps to sponsors and logos. In extreme climates, indoor settings work best since the plastic becomes brittle in cold temperatures.
“Working with Signs for Success has been a great experience. They were very helpful when I was deciding which material to print these on and are always quick to send quotes. [Signs for Success designer] Vanessa has been wonderful to work with and even went out of her way to deliver some of the logo plaques to our downtown office when I wasn’t able to come pick them up,” Renae explained.
We print PVC signs at our facility in Spokane, WA and offer quick turnaround on custom signs. If you are not able to pick up an order, we can deliver or ship to your location. The term “triple strike” refers to the printing process we use to make the best possible quality backlit signs Spokane. “Traditional digitally printed backlit signs look washed out at night. One option is to bump up saturation, which makes the sign too dark during the day. Our solution is three layers of ink,” Signs for Success owner John Bogensberger said.
Over several weeks of testing, we found that the best combination for cabinets lit with High Output Flourescent Bulbs, was printing the image in color,
then a layer of 50% opacity white ink, and finally another layer of color. For LED (Light Emitting Diode) lit cabinets the opacity on the white ink gets set at 75%. These three layers make it possible for the image to shine through no matter what direction the light comes from. “During the day, the white backs up the outer color layer, and during the night, the second layer of color comes through due to the backlighting,” John explained. “This allows the sign to look great day or night.”

White ink has given us a huge range of options in custom sign printing, many of which we are still exploring and finding applications for. This new technique using varying opacities of white ink gives custom acrylic signs a “dusted” or sandblasted look.
A “dusted” look, similar to sandblasted glass, is achieved when we print 10% opacity white behind a layer of color. Dusted acrylic signs Spokane can also play with depth perception – when you back any part of an image with 100% white ink, the color will pop. Softening the white down to 10% makes the image more transparent, and it appears further off in the piece. We like to use 100% white behind the dominant objects in an advertisement to bring them forward.
One sign project we did recently using the “dusted” method was actually a restoration project. A vintage pinball machine with cracked glass had to be recreated. We achieved near perfect color matches with the original vintage images, and by using greater opacity white ink under a few key images, they really pop out when the machine is turned on. Dusted acrylic signs Spokane look great in office spaces, restaurants and bars, lobbies, and as wall art. We’ve seen them used as an artful privacy barrier with the look of sandblasted glass or dusted crystal vinyl. We can print on Lexan or acrylic panels to replace a glass window or door.
